Product Information

It is mainly applied to test EV conductive charging connection devices (charging guns, charging sockets, on-board charger insulating plastic parts, charging modules), automotive on-board electrical components, low-voltage electrical connectors, new energy vehicle solid insulating materials and engineering plastics.

It is designed to measure the comparative tracking index (CTI) performance of solid electrical insulating materials when their surfaces are exposed to contaminated water under electric field with a maximum test voltage of 600V.

Test Principle

The Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) test is performed on the surface of solid insulating materials. A defined voltage is applied between platinum electrodes of standard dimensions (2 mm × 5 mm). A specified volume of conductive liquid (0.1% NH₄Cl solution) is dropped at a fixed height of 35 mm at 30-second intervals.

This test evaluates the tracking resistance of solid insulating material surfaces under the combined effect of electric field and humid/contaminated medium, and measures the Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) and Proof Tracking Index (PTI) of the material.
